All about : Negative effects of Home schooling
If you are considering home education, you might want to know the negative effects of Homeschooling. Can Homeschooling harm your child? What should I know before taking your decision?
Negative results are there Homeschooling
One thing you'll notice when you start a search: there are studies on the benefits of homeschooling, but obviously lacking in studies showing adverse effects of Homeschooling. So this means Homeschooling is perfect, right?
Well, according to some psychologists, Homeschooling may have some negative consequences. They show things like not enough exposure to diversity, lack of participation in society and integration problems, if a home educated child is in contact with the school system at some point. Each of these can be easily answered.
Exposure to Diversity
This diversity is largely driven by the community you live in. However, even if you live in an area that is culturally diverse, you can easily find diversity. Diversity is everywhere - not only in public schools. Every time you take your child out of the house, you can expose them to diversity.
Most parents of school to take home any moment and use it as an opportunity to teach. So no matter if you're in the park, church or grocery store, you can turn it into a lesson in diversity that is substantially better than that found in any public school, why should it be based on real life.
Participation in Society
Home schoolers have the opportunity to participate in real society. It is a volunteer at the animal shelter and participate in 4-H. They help out in nursing homes and participate in fundraisers for the volunteer fire department. get home schoolers participate in all aspects of society and to learn huge amounts of it - all while public participation in their schools sit at a desk.
Other socialization concerns include participation in sports, dances, plays and even graduation. Fortunately, the huge number of teams at home, this should not be an issue. The groups of preschool children at home can hold their own graduation to complete a diploma and transcript. They also hold dances and other fun gatherings. In many public education systems, schoolers home are welcome to participate in extracurricular activities like sports, even some categories such as art and music.
Instead, schoolers home is able to avoid parts of society that are not yet equipped to deal with. Like the upperclassman who is trying to promote drugs to them, or group of peers who want to steal. Granted, it will eventually have to deal with these issues and more. However, children today are forced to constantly confront the negative aspects of society at a younger and younger age. An age which is just not equipped to make informed decisions. In this respect, to participate in society is not always a good thing.
