As an engineering student, scholarships for engineering students provide a useful source of financing college.Engineering Scholarships Student Organizations
Many organizations offer scholarships for mechanical engineering students. These scholarships are often available only for members, but participation may be a small price to pay for funding opportunities. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) was founded in 1880 and has over 120,000 members. They internationally recognized codes and standards to enhance public safety. Their goal is to be the main agency for the promotion of art, science and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering. ASME provides grants and low-interest loans to college and university members of the students. Their website provides more information on the scholarship application process.National Company for professional engineers
The National Company for professional engineers (NSPE), founded in 1934 and has members in 53 states and territories and maintains more than 500 chapters. The NPSE offers several scholarships:
* Virginia D. Henry Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in community or junior colleges that have already been accepted to a school transfer.

* The William H. Bailey Jr. Memorial Scholarship helps African-American students living in Bronx, NY, and have completed one year of engineering courses.
* The NSPE Scholarships for students in Indiana awarded to three students who reside in Indiana.
SAE Foundation
The SAE Foundation was established in 1986 and cultivates students' enthusiasm for science and technology education. They try to build bridges between corporate sponsors and classrooms, giving engineers, teachers, and students the opportunity to collaborate and learn. They offer a range of corporate sponsored scholarships:
* The Detroit Section of SAE Engineering Scholarship is available only to students who are children or grandchildren of members of the SAE Detroit Section.

* The Ralph K. Hillquist Honorary SAE Scholarship awarded to full-time junior undergraduates.
Scholarships from Schools
Do not forget to check with the financial aid department of the school you are interested to watch to find out if the school offers any scholarships for engineering students. Often, the school will have scholarships available only through the financial aid office. The University of Washington's College of Engineering, for example, has four different engineering scholarships.
